Good Debrief - Thanks for praying for the Debrief which we directed in March. We felt like it went very well. Toward the middle of the week of a debrief we often wonder if anything is happening, but God always shows up and people seem to be met. Please continue to ask the Lord to bring us couples and individuals who will profit from this five-day directed spiritual retreat.
Good trip to Maryland – Last week we returned from a week's trip to western MD ( where John grew up). We are thankful it went very well. John spoke twice and Linn once to folks in our only supporting church. We were able to see many friends and supporters. We were also able to visit John's aunt who is 90 (and some cousins there) and Linn visited with a first cousin whom she hadn't ever really connected with before. We are thankful for the time with so many special folks but we are realizing that trips like that take a toll on us.
Good Retreat/Board meeting - We had a very profitable all-day MRC Retreat/ Board meeting this past Saturday as we spent time getting to know each other better, reflecting, planning and praying. We are so thankful to have a new, younger guy on our board now from a large church in the area. (See the Praise below for our new Board member!)
Praise the Lord as He continues to build our team!
Welcome to our new administrative assistant/accountant - We continue to rejoice in God's provision of our new administrative assistant/accountant, Margy DeWitt. She’s really only been working several weeks so is still on a steep learning curve but doing a great job. Pray for her as she as she assumes more and more responsibilities of these two positions. See her biographical sketch below.
Meet our new board member - Hey, I am Matt Clark and it is a privilege to be considered for the board of MRC. I am one of the missions pastors at the Summit Church where I have served now for 8 years. My main area of focus is the assessment, training, sending and support of our members that are serving overseas for 2 or more years. We have 90 units (families or singles) serving all over the world and my heartbeat is that they not be forgotten and that they always feel like they are a part of our body.
I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in ’03 with a degree in Communication Studies. I also have a Masters in Intercultural Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
I have been married to my lovely wife Alicia for 8 years. We have two boys, Brantley and Brayden, plus a little girl on the way in May. I am originally from Roxboro, NC so I love the Triangle area and how the Lord is using it for his glory!
~ Matt Clark
Note: He served two years in Tanzania before joining the staff at Summit.
