Global Member Care Network
(GMCN) is an organization of people from all over the world involved in providing member care to missionaries and next month they are sponsoring a conference in Turkey. When I (John) first heard about the conference I was not inclined to go but as we talked with people about it (especially with members of our board), we became convinced that it would, in fact, be valuable for us to go.
Egypt – We left Egypt over 5 ½ years ago and have not been back so on our way to Turkey we will spend several days in Egypt catching up with friends and supporters there.
February 3 – Fly to Egypt
February 8 - Fly to Antalya, Turkey
February 14 – Return to Raleigh
Why Travel To Turkey:
1. Training and Growth – Linn and I are new in member care and it is important for us to become better acquainted with what is happening in this vital area of ministry to overseas workers. Just being able to talk with people working with member care from around the world will be beneficial. But we will also be able to attend a number of seminars on various useful and pertinent topics, given by the best member care gurus.
2. Networking – We are often asked how missionaries find out about MRC. One important part of the answer to that question is networking. As we get acquainted with member care people from around the world, we will be able to direct people to them who need the training and resources they have, and they will possibly direct people to us who are coming to this area. Networking is a key component in the multi-organizational type of member care in which we are involved.
In early February, John and Linn will be traveling overseas to attend a Global Member Care Conference in Antalya, Turkey and to visit friends and supporters in their previous place of ministry, Cairo, Egypt.
This blog contains the latest MRC news. MRC exists because we believe that many missionaries return from the field tired and discouraged, in need of a helping hand and a listening ear.
