Another result of the luncheon is that I realized that these are the folks that I really need to be pursuing and reaching out to. Most of the people who were there are doing member care. They have a passion for world missions and are trying to care for and encourage the missionaries that have gone out from their churches. And it really seemed like MRC has several things to offer them that they felt like they can use.
From these contacts, I hope to develop a network of people in the Triangle Area (Raleigh, Durham & Chapel Hill) so that we can share ideas and concerns and resources we’ve discovered which are helpful. I plan to have another luncheon on the other side of town in a couple weeks and will do the same thing.
Linn and I also met with a couple last week who spent several years in the Middle East. They have returned to the States and are wrestling with why they are back, have they 'failed the Lord,' etc.
Two Debriefing Retreats are scheduled for this summer - one in May and one in August. Many details still need to come together but we are asking the Lord to prepare the hearts of those who are coming and meet each of them in a special way as they process significant events in their lives from the past.
